Today ARMEDIA says goodbye to a valued friend and colleague, Ingrid Maack. After almost five years with the organisation, she is moving on.
Publisher and managing director Eddy Jokovich fondly remembers Ingrid as the “stand out” candidate who applied for the journalist’s position in 2009. “She has not let us down during her time here—many a good story has been written by Ingrid.”
Her article in Rattler magazine on children in detention, Australia’s youngest prisoners, is a particularly thought-provoking story that paints a bleak picture of Australia’s human rights record regarding young asylum seekers.
Ingrid’s work on Rattler magazine, for Community Child Care Co-operative, has been significant, overseeing magazine content during times of significant change in the early childhood education and care sector.
“It takes considerable skill to make sure Rattler achieves a high level of quality: writing the articles, synthesising the work that develops from the editorial meetings, chasing up interviews and copy from contributors, and ensuring the copy for Rattler is ready for our deadlines,” Eddy explains.
“Harnessing all of this material is like a combination of mustering sea lions, cattle, sheep and, sometimes, wild horses, and Ingrid has taken on all those responsibilities with gusto, and great professionalism, and the results glowingly arrive in your letterbox every three months.”

Clik here to view.As well as her terrific articles, Ingrid has also undertaken photographic duties for Rattler, and many of the photos for the ‘Coalface’ service profiles reflect her handiwork.
Although she will be missed in the office, and by our client partners, we know she is moving on to very important work on the foundation that she helped set up with her sister’s family, the Sanfillipo Children’s Foundation (www.sanfilippo.org.au).
Camille Howard will take over from Ingrid on Rattler: “I know I have some big shoes to fill—Ingrid was an integral part of our team.”
“We will miss Ingrid,” Eddy adds. “I’d like to thank her for all of her work on Rattler over the years and wish her all the very best in the future.”
